About Open Funk (source: brand website)

Open Funk is a Berlin home-electronics brand founded by Paul Anca and Ken Rostand to develop household appliances designed for longer use, repair and reuse. Its first product is re:Mix, a modular kitchen blender designed to work with standard reusable glass jars.

re:Mix is manufactured and assembled in Open Funk’s Berlin workshop. Most components are produced locally, including 3D-printed parts, while selected components such as blades and seals are sourced from specialist suppliers abroad. The blender uses a casing made from 100% recycled HDPE, stainless-steel blades and bio-based or recycled plastics.

The appliance is designed without glued-together assemblies and can be opened with ordinary tools. Replaceable components, repair guides, open-source documentation and spare parts support long-term maintenance and upgrades.

Open Funk also operates refurbishment and take-back systems for used re:Mix blenders. Returned appliances are inspected and refurbished for resale where possible, while unsuitable components are recycled. Production leftovers from the recycled-plastic casing are also used to make upcycled coasters.
