FAQ

How SHOWP works, how brands are included and what the information in the catalogue means.

What does “Made in Europe” mean on SHOWP?

On SHOWP, “Made in Europe” means manufacturing within a European Union member country.

Being headquartered, founded or designed in Europe alone is not enough. SHOWP focuses on where products are actually made.

Are all brands on SHOWP manufactured entirely in the European Union?

Brands listed on SHOWP manufacture predominantly in the European Union.

Production can vary between product ranges, materials and factories, so SHOWP records those differences where they can be established rather than assuming every product from a brand has the same origin.

Is “designed in Europe” the same as “made in Europe”?

No.

A product can be designed by a European company and manufactured elsewhere. SHOWP focuses on manufacturing, not simply where the brand is based or where the design work happens.

How does SHOWP check where brands manufacture?

Production information is checked using official brand information and other publicly available sources.

This can include company manufacturing pages, individual product information, public documentation and, where useful, direct confirmation from the brand.

Does SHOWP inspect factories?

No.

SHOWP does not audit factories or independently certify manufacturing claims. The catalogue is based on information that can reasonably be established from official and publicly available sources.

If production information is unclear, it isn’t assumed.

Why can manufacturing information differ between products from the same brand?

Many brands use more than one factory, supplier or production country.

A company may manufacture different product ranges in different places, or move production over time. SHOWP records those differences where they are known instead of treating the whole brand as if every product were identical.

How often is the catalogue updated?

Brands change. Factories change. Product ranges change too.

SHOWP reviews catalogue information over time, and brand pages include a Last Reviewed date so you can see when the information was most recently checked.

Does SHOWP sell the products listed here?

No.

SHOWP is a catalogue. Purchases are made directly from the brands or retailers linked from the catalogue.

Can I shop from brands in another EU country?

That is one of the requirements for inclusion.

SHOWP focuses on brands that are genuinely available to order online across EU borders, rather than businesses that only serve their domestic market or cannot realistically be shopped from elsewhere in the EU. Exact shipping destinations, costs and conditions vary by brand. This is a big part of the idea behind SHOWP: making the EU single market easier to shop.

Shipping destinations, costs and conditions are still determined by each individual brand.

Do brands pay to be included on SHOWP?

No.

Brands do not pay for catalogue inclusion. A brand is included because it meets the SHOWP catalogue criteria, not because it has purchased a listing.

Does SHOWP rank or recommend brands?

Not in the traditional “best brands” sense.

SHOWP is primarily about discovery. The goal is to make European manufacturers easier to find and give you enough structured information to decide what interests you.

What does “SHOWP verified” mean?

“SHOWP verified” means SHOWP has personally purchased from the brand.

It confirms that the shop was functioning, the order was delivered and the products received were genuine products from the listed brand.

It is not a factory audit, quality certification or endorsement of every product the company sells.

What is an affiliate link?

Some links on SHOWP may be affiliate links.

If you follow one of those links and make a purchase, SHOWP may receive a commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you. This can help support the catalogue and the work of researching and keeping it up to date.

Affiliate relationships do not determine which brands are included in the catalogue.

Why doesn’t SHOWP use brand logos and product photos everywhere?

Brand logos, product photography and other promotional images are usually protected intellectual property. European copyright and trademark rules are strict about how protected brand assets can be reused, so SHOWP takes a cautious approach.

SHOWP only uses brand assets where permission has been granted or there is another clear right to use them. Otherwise, catalogue profiles rely on factual information and SHOWP’s own visual system rather than copying images directly from brand websites.

This also helps avoid suggesting that a brand has officially endorsed or partnered with SHOWP when it hasn’t.

Can a brand ask to be added to SHOWP?

Yes.

Brands are welcome to suggest themselves for inclusion, and visitors can suggest brands they think SHOWP should look at.

Submission does not guarantee inclusion — the same catalogue criteria apply regardless of who suggested the brand.

What if I find something incorrect or outdated?

Please send it our way.

Manufacturing locations, product ranges, shipping policies and company information can change. Corrections and updated sources are always useful, and SHOWP will review the information.
