The brand’s first product, re:Mix, is a kitchen mixer designed to work with standard glass jars, offering customizability and durability. It marks the first step in Open Funk’s vision for a circular platform of home electronics, made and repaired locally, and never wasted. Built through collaboration and open-source principles, re:Mix empowers local communities and reduces environmental impact.

Founded by Ken and Paul, who met in 2018 at the “Open Source Circular Economy Days,” Open Funk was born from their shared passion to address societal and environmental challenges like e-waste. With Ken’s expertise in industrial design and manufacturing and Paul’s background in UX design and economics, they explored why appliances like blenders break so easily. Frustrated by the e-waste crisis and poor product quality, they began designing solutions.
