Glerups is a Danish footwear brand best known for its minimalist felted wool slippers. The story began in 1993, when Nanny Glerup made a pair of felted boots from wool from the family's own Gotland sheep. What started as a small home production gradually developed into a specialist wool-footwear company.
Today, Glerups designs its slippers in Denmark and manufactures them in its own factory in Romania. Each pair is made from pure natural wool and finished with either a soft chrome-free leather sole or natural rubber, with the footwear still hand-sewn and hand-stitched as part of the production process.
The collection includes slip-ons, shoes and boots for adults and children, alongside wool insoles. Glerups also turns leftover wool from production into a small upcycled accessories range, including cup cosies and coasters, seat cushions and the Quietzy dice game set.
Adult footwear is Cradle to Cradle Certified® at Bronze level, while the Romanian factory operates under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Selected models also use Responsible Wool Standard certified wool and FSC-certified natural rubber.
